The Rocky Mountain Lady RoughRiders (LRR) are pleased to announce Chris Lockrem as our new Hockey Director. Chris will work under the direction of Derek Robinson, Executive Director, to continue the LRR Mission of growth and development of female players in the state of Colorado.
Chris grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, playing hockey in the Little Caesars Hockey League for the Cleveland Americans. He received his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Colorado State University (CSU) where he was captain of the ACHA Division I Men’s Hockey Team. After graduation, Chris was instrumental in building the Boulder Valley Ice Arena in Superior, CO. Chris managed the rink and coached PeeWee AA in his early years. In 2003, Chris left Boulder Hockey Club (BHC) to become the Hockey Director for the Aspen Junior Leafs. While in Aspen, Chris worked with the all girls’ teams and won multiple State Championships.
Under his leadership, BHC saw an unprecedented increase in player skills and team success. Some notable achievements include winning the PeeWee AA Quebec Qualifier in 2014 and winning the State Championship with the Bantam AA’s, earning a bid to compete at USA Hockey's National Championship. Additionally, in the 2015-2016 season BHC won 18 youth division championships.
Chris said, "I am very thankful to the RoughRider Organization for hiring me to be the Director of Hockey Operations. I look forward to meeting all of the families and developing female hockey players. I have been a director of hockey in different capacities for 19 seasons. This will be my first time involved with a girl’s only organization and I look forward to growing our club. Hockey is a great game for girls and with proper development, it will create great opportunities for our players."
